Chilean Venturescouts Discover Esperanto
January 21, 2020Between January 13th and 20th, 2019, Skolta Esperanto-Ligo in Chile introduced the International Language “Esperanto” to the venturers of the Guides and Scouts Association of Chile, during the First National Adventure, held at the Hacienda de Picarquín in San Francisco de Mostazal, under strong heat throughout the week.
About 1200 young people had contact for the first time with Esperanto, they learned some basic dialogues, Esperanto’s characteristics, they even sang in Esperanto, or at least tried it. More than 1000 brochures were distributed at the event, which constitutes the most massive dissemination of Esperanto in Chile till today.
The information also reached members of the delegations from Peru, Argentina and Brazil. It should be noted that 99% of the young people knew absolutely nothing about Esperanto, so much information had to be provided about the language.
